The Roman Catholic Church is a worldwide Christian community committed to loving and serving God through divine worship and service to others.

The Church has a rich heritage of belief and worship based on:

  • The teachings of Jesus Christ and His Apostles
  • A formal doctrine that includes belief in the Mass and Sacraments, the sacredness of the Bible, and the Pope as visible head of the Church
  • The unifying belief that in it is found the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church.

Why should I know about it?

Because the study of the Church history encourages:

  • Understanding - you gain perspective from studying your Church's place in histroy. The Roman Catholic Church has had a profound effect on people of all beliefs.
